  • Tribute to a Dying Gaia-8

    The Sea is Dead

    Love does not create

    She simply transforms

The Oceans are the greatest sculptors

    The Sun our greatest toy

    Nature the greatest jeweller

Of the passing epic of centuries

The continents crash into each other

    Our knowledge explodes

In a destruction of the Earth

    We who did not create

    We who transformed too fast

    We who threw our destiny

    In with losses

    Of the brittle passing elements

    The well-known arrogance

    Of the predator of eco-systems

    The mischievous thief of biodiversity

    An ecological criminal

    Adolescent of world plundering

    One hungry mistake

    Of too much taking

    And not enough giving.

  • Tribute to a Dying Gaia-7

    Eco-Sin

    Oh how sobering

Is the wounded Earth in our hands

Flexible to our wishes yet dying

    A selfless service to life

Letting us grow to her detriment

    Our conscience aching for redemption

But this loss is the loss of evolution

Were we truly the chosen ones?

The race that was destined to destroy

An ultimate predator and epidemic foe

    Nature’s beauty is in decrease

Her jewels are shadows of what they once were

It is our death that has spread over her fields

Our waste deposited into her blood

    In eternity nothing is terrible

Yet our hands are black with ecological sin

The mother mistakes her child as a beloved

And the child with too much power

Destroys the playground of his entire childhood

Life as it were shall never be the same

In just a few ignorant and tyrannical generations

  • Doomsday

    Let us sleep alone

    Yet close to each other

For this is the long night

    Of our world’s quick destruction

The signs of turmoil are everywhere

In the days of our own affliction

    We have poisoned the future

    Our work has created tragedy

In our actions mouths grow hungry

    In the sunsets cities burn

    In our daily routines

We must fulfill our little duties

    But the Earth trembles

    And we are only one

    Manifestation of a crying world

    Let us dream alone tonight

    Yet recognizing our world declines.

  • Tribute to a Dying Gaia - 5

    A World on Fire

    The world is in crisis,

An evolution of the feedback principle,

    Our karma has arrived

On a platter of corruption and consumption,

    The global biological chaos,

Of the actions of our industrialization,

    As we prospered, we sowed

    The seeds of ruin everywhere,

    Our environment, the post-modern

    Dilemma, this masochism of progress,

Always to profit from what we inherited,

    Our materialism outweighed reason

Until our civilization lost its soul,

And the pains of dying world were left –

For only our children to witness.

  • Tribute to a Dying Gaia - 4

    The Murder of Gaia

    We have reproduced ourselves,

    In bodies and energy demands,

Until Gaia can no longer sustain herself,

    The hypothetical infinity of nature

    Has become impotent and infertile.

Human society has become a driving force

For planetary change – like never before,

    The most formidable external enemy,

    Our inability to change,

The mechanisms of how we view life,

    Our patterns of consumptions,

    And a philosophy of separation,

This habit of exploitation and buying,

    The behaviour that stimulates markets,

Whose ethics are short-term and irrational,

Where growth, not sustainability is the alpha-principle.

We are becoming the subject of our

    Own threatening behaviour of consumption,

As the coral reefs die out. so do the oceans,

A horrific inadvertent terraforming of old Earth,

The stuff which legends shall one day be made of,

    A global impact of humanity,

Upon the evolution that brought us here,

Upon the fields, soil, water, air – our very sun,

And all the planetary forces which nourished us,

We are all accomplices to history,

The war within has spilled over

We have polluted the earth and changed

Her organs and the harmony of her order,

Until future generations shall no longer recognize,

The greens and blues which was once our birthright.
